This post has been bouncing around in my head for a few days so I'm going to give it a shot and see where it goes...maybe there's another "conflicted vegetarian" out there who can relate.
I don't eat meat. But I do eat fish, seafood, eggs if it's in something and that sort of stuff. I know there are very technical terms for different levels of vegetarianism but that's my list. I can't stand milk and haven't drank it straight for awhile now. I do take my vitamins and make sure I get the nutrients I need as much as possible from other foods. I drink almond milk almost exclusively and even that's not a lot because I've never been a big milk person. But I do love ice cream (which doesn't always sit well either) and I always get skim milk in my weekly or so Starbucks Mocha...which brings me to my confliction. Am I a vegetarian or just someone who doesn't like meat? Every now and then I miss meat and I will sneak a bite. I usually don't feel well afterward so I don't repeat this exercise often, lol, but I just feel like I'm stuck in limbo no knowing what to eat. PB&J is a diet staple. Exciting, isn't it?
It doesn't help that hubby and the boy are huge meat-eaters. So, while I am busy making two meals, or finding meals that we can both agree on...mac and cheese with some sort of meat served with is a common compromise I feel like I am very limited. And so, of course, I started envying what they're eating because it looks like a meal.
So, I'm a conflicted vegetarian. I watched Food, Inc and now I don't want to eat much of anything out there. Is there any hope for me? :-)
